Whatcom Community Foundation is a champion of employee ownership as a strategy for improving local economic prosperity and resilience.

Since 2018, the Community Foundation has been involved in efforts to expand employee ownership, commissioning research to quantify the opportunity statewide, and convening stakeholders to establish the Washington Center for Employee Ownership as a statewide resource headquartered in Whatcom County.
